Board Meeting Minutes

September 9

 

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday September 9, 2009 at the Divernon Village Hall. Mayor Pro-tem Randy Rhodes called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. After all in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the Clerk called roll call: Mayor Pro-tem Randy Rhodes “Here”, Melissa Layton “Here”, Tom Burke “Here”, Randy Rieke “Here”, and Michelle Bennett “Here” Joe Bukantos “Here”. Also present Police Chief Eric Kirbach and Superintendent Larry Rhodes and Treasurer Lucille Hundley.

The minutes for the August 26th meeting were presented. After any corrections or additions were made a motion to approve was made by M. Bennett. Second by T. Burke.  Motion passed 5-0.

The bills were presented for approval. After additions and corrections were made, motion to approve bills by R. Rieke. Second by T. Burke. Motion passed 5-0.

Mayor Pro-tem Rhodes recognized visitor Andy Goleman. A. Goleman introduced Sheriff Neal Williamson, Tim Zarhn of the Sangamon County Highway Department and Jim Stone of the Sangamon County Department of Public Health. Each member discussed the different aspects of the services available to the Village.

Supervisor (L. Rhodes):

Supervisor Rhodes reported the street maintenance will begin next week.

Police:

Chief Kirbach reported to have hired 3 new officers and they have begun the training process.  Chief Kirbach stated 2 part time officers have put in their resignation.

Treasurer (L. Hundley):

Treasurer Hundley presented the monthly Treasurer’s report.

Committee Reports

Public Works, Streets, Alleys, and Utilities (J. Bukantos):

J. Bukantos stated there have been 5 applications for the sidewalk program. J. Bukantos to place an ad for bids on the project. Bids are to be opened at the October 14th Board meeting.

J. Bukantos stated he is to meet with a representative from ICC to discuss the railroad crossings.

                                                                                                                                                                  

Finance (R. Rieke):

R. Rieke will begin working on the Tax Levy Ordinance.

Personnel/Human Resources (R. Rhodes):

Nothing to report.

Health & Safety (M. Bennett):

M. Bennett stated issues at the properties of 209 E. Dodd St. and 106 E. Dodd have not been resolved and will be turned over to the Sangamon County Health Department for further investigation.

                                                                                                                                 

M. Layton reported on additional properties that need to be looked into.

OEM meeting information was presented for the Board to review. R. Rhodes attended the meeting that was focused on the updating of radios for all emergency services within Sangamon County.

Building, Grounds and Lights (T. Burke):

T. Burke discussed the upcoming contract with Tru-Green lawn service. T. Burke to look further in to this matter.

Community Development (M. Layton):

M. Layton stated the cleanup of the Community Garden is set for October 15th.

M. Layton requested on behalf of the Legion Auxiliary, use of the Village Square on October 25th for a Halloween party for children 0-12 years old.

Motion to approve Executive minutes by M. Layton. Second by J. Bukantos. Motion passed 5-0.
