Board Meeting Minutes

September 23

 

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday September 23, 2009 at the Divernon Village Hall. Mayor Pro-Tem Randy Rhodes called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. After all in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the Clerk called roll call: Mayor Pro-Tem Randy Rhodes “Here”, Melissa Layton “Here”, Tom Burke “Here”, Randy Rieke “Here”, and Michelle Bennett “Here”, Joe Bukantos “Here”. Also present Police Chief Eric Kirbach and Superintendent Larry Rhodes. Not Present Treasurer Lucille Hundley.

The minutes for the September 9th meeting were presented. After any corrections or additions were made a motion to approve was made by M. Bennett. Second by T. Burke.  Motion passed 5-0.

The bills were presented for approval. After additions and corrections were made, motion to approve bills by R. Rieke. Second by J. Bukantos. Motion passed 5-0.

Mayor Pro-tem Rhodes recognized visitor Jeff Fulgenzi for the Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission. J. Fulgenzi discussed the long range comprehensive plan of the commission and services available to the Village. Motion to accept Resolution 2009-001 to allow the mayor to participate in SSCRPC by T. Burke. Second by M. Layton. Motion passed 5-0.

Randy Olson, Jim Smith, Chuck Bland were present on behalf of citizens interested in the use of golf carts and ATV’s on Village streets. J. Smith suggested having a petition done to determine the amount of interest. The Illinois statue regarding the use of golf carts on village streets was explained to the visitors. Safety issues were discussed and suggestions were made for annual inspections on each vehicle. The matter was tabled for further discussion.

Supervisor (L. Rhodes):

Supervisor Rhodes stated the street maintenance had been completed.

Supervisor Rhodes reported to be waiting on additional information regarding the purchase of a new skid steer.

Police:

Chief Kirbach reported on ordinance violations

Chief Kirbach stated the new part time officers are doing well.

Treasurer (L. Hundley):

Nothing to report.

Committee Reports

Public Works, Streets, Alleys, and Utilities (J. Bukantos):

J. Bukantos has met with representatives of the railroad to discuss the crossings and repairs. The representative will be getting back with J. Personnel/Human Resources (R. Rhodes):

Nothing to report.

Health & Safety (M. Bennett):

M. Bennett stated the Sangamon County Health Department has been notified on the properties at 106 E. Dodd and 209 E Dodd.

M. Bennett presented a letter from DECO regarding possible grants for recycling.

Building, Grounds and Lights(T. Burke):

T. Burke discussed the upcoming contract with Tru-Green Lawn Care. More information will be available at the next Board meeting.

Community Development (M. Layton):

M. Layton has received a letter from the Route 66 programs asking for participation from Divernon in the next project.

M. Layton is working on the Village Survey.
